Mr George Panteli graduated from the Queen Mary College of the University of London in the United Kingdom, in the field of Economics.
He is a Director at the Ministry of Finance, Economic Research and European Union Affairs Directorate. The main areas of responsibility are analysis of macroeconomic developments, determination of sectoral and economic policies, fiscal and wage policies and formulation of taxation policies including international taxation issues. The coordination and supervision of issues related to the European Union and specifically issues relating to the proceeding of the Euro Group and the ECOFIN Council is another area of responsibility.
He is the Cyprus representative in the Economic and Financial Committee of the European
Union, the Euro Working Group of the Euro Group and the European Stability Mechanism.
He is heading the Economy Working Group established for negotiating the economic aspects
of a settlement to the Cyprus issue.
